This week we feature four wines perfect for Valentine's Day celebrations,
Thursday, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.
The first two wines we will pour are sparkling rose wines, with a touch of sweetness.
Both wines are very special and the perfect pair for a box of chocolates.
We believe these are two of the finest off-dry sparkling roses on the market.
The second pair we will pour are two fabulous red blends.
Staint Francis Red is a blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and zinfandel.
With its lovely label of black and red, it will make a striking gift for your Valentine.
Fab Red is from Mendicino, is a blend of three old world grape varieties,
aged eighteen months in a combination of French and American oak barrels.

the Roof to Prevent Homelessness at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center.

silent and live auctions and topping off the evening will be live entertainment by Shelvis.

Brachetto d'Acqui D.O.C.G
Brachetto is a red grape grown in the Piedmont region of Italy. It is a rare wine and examples of it are few and far between here in the United States. As obscure as it is, this dessert wine is well worth exploring when it is available. (Libations will be pouring samples of it this Thursday, February 11, 2010.)
Brachetto (brah-KEY-et-tow) possesses a lovely aroma of perfume, reminiscent of roses and spice. It has flavors of strawberries, raspberries, roses, honey, tangerines, and cinnamon. It is made into still and sparkling versions; its carbonated versions are most popular because of its
romantic and celebratory character. Its rosy hue and bubbly body makes it the perfect Valentines Day wine. With its soft acidity and slight off-dry quality, this wine is perfect for pairing with chocolates.
This wine has a place in Italian folklore as well. One of the most famous characters in Italian mask comedy is Gianduja da Gioan d'laduja, Johnny of the Jug. Johnny prefers his jug be filled with Bachetto d'Acqui. His character is considered synonymous with a bright, vivacious, upbeat attitude. He is also considered a drunkard, albeit one with a discriminating palate. In modern times, the term Gianduja is used for naming certain chocolate desserts, also from the same comical character. It sounds like this guy was an expert in decadent gastronomy.
Festive, fun, rose colored, with a touch of sweetness, Brachetto d'Acqui is a wonderful choice for your Valentine. It is limited in production and mostly available during the Christmas holidays through Valentines Day. It is a rare treat not to be missed. One sip and you'll know why Johnny liked to keep his jug topped off with this delicious nectar.
